Every RELIEF programme is implemented through documented procedures, qualified personnel, continuous training, and systematic quality assurance. By combining clinical knowledge, digital innovation, and structured operational processes, RELIEF seeks to support organizations in delivering accessible, evidence-informed, and person-centred mental health programmes while maintaining high standards of professionalism, privacy, and accountability Below is professionally written website content describing the psychological assessment component of the RELIEF project. Psychological Assessment Scientifically Developed Digital Psychological Assessment The RELIEF platform incorporates a comprehensive digital psychological assessment programme designed to support the early identification of mental health concerns, promote psychological well-being, and facilitate timely intervention when appropriate. The assessment process is based on standardized psychometric principles and is intended to provide a structured understanding of an individual's current psychological functioning. The assessment is completed through a secure online platform and typically requires 15–20 minutes. Participants respond to a series of carefully designed questions that evaluate multiple dimensions of mental health and emotional well-being. Responses are analysed using validated scoring algorithms to generate an individualized psychological profile. Purpose of the Assessment The psychological assessment aims to: •Promote self-awareness of mental and emotional well-being. •Identify individuals who may benefit from additional support or professional consultation. •Support early recognition of psychological distress before problems become more severe. •Assist institutions in planning mental health promotion and wellness initiatives using aggregated, non-identifiable data where appropriate. •Monitor changes in well-being over time through repeat assessments. The assessment is intended as a screening and decision-support tool. It does not establish a medical diagnosis and does not replace evaluation by a qualified mental health professional. Assessment Domains The RELIEF assessment evaluates several important aspects of psychological health, which may include: Emotional Well-being Measures overall emotional health, positive functioning, optimism, and psychological resilience. Stress Assesses perceived stress arising from academic, occupational, social, or personal challenges and the individual's ability to manage these demands. Resilience Assesses how effectively an individual manages stress, adapts to challenges, solves problems, and utilizes available support systems. Self-Esteem and Self-Worth Evaluates confidence, self-acceptance, personal value, and beliefs about one's abilities. Social and Interpersonal Functioning Assesses the quality of relationships, social connectedness, communication, and perceived social support. Level of Functioning Examines the impact of emotional health on work, study, family responsibilities, concentration, productivity, and routine activities. Mental Health Risk Indicators Identifies patterns of responses that may suggest increased psychological vulnerability and indicate that further assessment or professional consultation should be considered. Where applicable, the platform highlights elevated risk indicators to support timely referral according to established protocols. Assessment Process The psychological assessment follows a structured workflow: 1.Secure registration and informed consent. 2.Completion of standardized digital questionnaires. 3.Automated scoring using validated algorithms. 4.Generation of an individualized assessment report. 5.Personalized educational guidance and wellness recommendations. 6.Referral guidance where responses indicate that additional professional support may be beneficial. 7.Follow-up assessments, when appropriate, to monitor progress over time. Individualized Assessment Report Following completion, participants receive a confidential report that may include: •Summary of overall psychological well-being. •Domain-specific scores and interpretations. •Areas of psychological strength. •Areas where additional attention may be beneficial. •Personalized wellness recommendations. •Educational resources. •Guidance regarding professional consultation when indicated. Reports are intended to support self-understanding and informed discussions with qualified mental health professionals where appropriate. Scientific Foundation The psychological assessment framework has been developed using established principles of psychometric science, clinical psychology, and psychiatry. Assessment instruments undergo systematic processes of item development, expert review, pilot testing, reliability evaluation, validity assessment, and ongoing quality improvement to support their accuracy and relevance for the intended population. The platform is designed to support evidence-informed mental health programmes while maintaining high standards of scientific rigor, fairness, and usability. Privacy and Confidentiality All assessment responses are treated as confidential and are managed in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and organizational policies. Access to assessment information is restricted to authorized users based on defined roles and responsibilities. Appropriate technical and administrative safeguards are implemented to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and security of participant information. Supporting Mental Health Through Early Recognition Early recognition of psychological concerns can improve access to appropriate support and encourage proactive mental health care. By combining standardized psychological assessment with education, wellness resources, and structured referral pathways, the RELIEF platform seeks to empower individuals and institutions to promote mental well-being through a responsible, evidence-informed approach.

Software Medical Devise

RELIEF – A Multidimensional Digital Mental Health Screening Software Medical Device RELIEF is an innovative software medical device (SaMD) designed for screening, early identification, and preventive mental health care among students. Developed in India, RELIEF integrates six culturally adapted psychometric tools that are well-researched, scientifically validated, credible, and confidential. The platform helps students understand their emotional health, identify emerging concerns, and receive personalized recommendations generated through a clinical algorithm based on established clinical guidelines and a mental health staging model. Its primary objective is to answer two critical questions: 1.Who is currently experiencing psychological difficulties and requires professional intervention? 2.Who is at risk of developing mental health problems and requires monitoring, guidance, and preventive support? RELIEF has been developed in collaboration with the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, K. J. Somaiya Institute of Technology, which has established a dedicated task force on digital mental health. The software is given free of cost to all the universities. The system combines principles of clinical science, artificial intelligence, and preventive mental healthcare. The software offers three levels of assessment: •Two screening tests for stress and psychological symptoms •Two tests for assessing mental strength, resilience, and wellness capacity •Six comprehensive assessment tools for detailed multidimensional evaluation Students can complete the assessment within approximately 15 minutes through multiple platforms, including Web App, Android, and iOS applications. After completion, each student receives a confidential 5–6-page PDF report containing personalized results, cautions, psychoeducation, and recommendations. Based on the assessment, RELIEF provides three clinically guided recommendations: 1.Continue monitoring and seek support from a counsellor if required 2.Consult a psychiatrist or mental health professional for further assessment and intervention when indicated 3.Participate in a structured wellness and mental strength enhancement program The uniqueness of RELIEF lies in its multidimensional approach. Unlike single-scale screening methods that may produce high false-positive results, RELIEF evaluates multiple domains of psychological functioning, allowing a more balanced and clinically meaningful understanding of student mental health. The platform has successfully completed trials involving more than 1,700 students, and research findings have been published inform of five scientific papers, supporting its reliability and clinical relevance. An experimental model of RELIEF was officially launched on 18 March 2026 at the Constitution Club, New Delhi, by the Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. RELIEF has already established collaborations through MoUs with 15 universities and is registered as a start-up initiative. The next-generation version is being developed in alignment with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) ecosystem and is planned for licensing under CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Designed with quality standards comparable to international digital health requirements, including principles followed by regulatory agencies such as the FDA, RELIEF represents a unique Indian innovation in preventive student mental healthcare — combining scientific validation, cultural relevance, confidentiality, digital accessibility, and early intervention.
